Occasionally, it may be necessary for an excavator to call back into JULIE for a Second Request Locate.
A second request locate may be a request for one, several or all member companies involved at your excavation site to return to freshen or to complete the marks at the site.
When calling into JULIE, please have your dig number available and inform the agent the specific companies that have not located, completed marking at the site or are not visible. State law requires a 2-hour wait time for excavators who call in second requests due to a utility no-show.
Excavators should choose one of the following terms when calling in a second request:
- REMARK - Outside factors such as weather, construction activity or vandalism at the dig site have caused markings to become undistinguishable. Call JULIE to have the area remarked and be prepared to wait an additional 48 hours (two working days). Please refer to the previously received dig number when calling for a remark.
- INCOMPLETE MARKINGS - One or more member companies failed to mark the entire area indicated on the original locate request.
- NO SHOW - One or more companies failed to locate their facilities within the two working day advance notice period (two hours in case of an emergency).
