Man working at drafting tableJULIE created the Design Stage/Planning Information Request for architects, engineers and other customers who are in the design stage of a project.  Customers who use this service will be faxed a list of member utility engineering contacts.  It is the sole responsibility of the individual making the request to then make contact with each facility owner's office.

After the direct contact by the customer, the JULIE member company will typically respond in one of the following three ways within 14 days of the receipt of the notice:

bulletActual field location will be performed at the job site or
bulletDrawings/prints of the location of the member's buried facilities at the proposed site will be provided or
bulletThe caller may be requested to send drawings/prints of the job site to the member.

If the member requests drawings of the job site, the member will mark existing facilities on drawings/prints or provide copies of the utility's record information and return these documents to the caller.

When calling in a locate request during the design stage, the caller must identify to the JULIE operator that they are in the planning or design stage of the project.

Please note that JULIE member companies are not required by law to honor a Design Stage Request.  In addition, some JULIE members may charge a fee for any of these Design Stage services mentioned above.
