Mapping and Plat Books

Excavators are required to supply section/quarter section information to identify their proposed excavation site. The resources listed below can help excavators obtain this information.

The Chicago 7-County Street Finder is a comprehensive resource for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Kendall and Will Counties. It is available at most book stores as well as several stores such as Target, WalMart and Sam’s Club.

In addition, the Illinois Department of Transportation provides maps showing the sections for most cities in Illinois. They should be used in conjunction with a plat book since they do not show tier and range numbers.  A map of the state showing the IDOT regions can be viewed here.
